Factory Order Glossary | Pinckney Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

A plain-language reference for every term you may encounter during your factory order.

If you come across a term during your order process that you are not familiar with, you will find it here. Your Sales Consultant is also always happy to walk through anything that needs more context.

Factory Order — Also referred to as a Sold Order. A factory order is a specific vehicle build determined by the customer and produced by the manufacturer to those exact specifications.

VON — Vehicle Order Number. Once a factory order is placed, it is assigned a VON which appears on your order documents. You will use this number when tracking your vehicle through the ordering and build process.

POC — Price Order Confirmation. A detailed printout of your factory order showing exactly which packages and configurations were selected, along with their MSRP and invoice pricing. The POC will look very similar to the quotes your Sales Consultant provided, with the addition of your VON at the top and your name and address at the bottom.

VIN — Vehicle Identification Number. The unique identification number assigned to your specific vehicle that stays with it for its entire lifecycle, from pre-build through every subsequent transaction.

Buyers’ Order — The document that confirms the purchase price agreed to by Pinckney CDJR and the customer. At the time of ordering, this reflects the vehicle price, deposit, documentation fee, and electronic filing fee. Taxes, title, and license fees are added at the time of delivery, as well as any transportation of title agency fees required.

Documentation Fee — A fee of $280 charged by Pinckney CDJR to process all legal documents associated with your purchase.

Electronic Filing Fee — A fee of $34 charged by Pinckney CDJR to process electronic filing associated with your transaction.

Deposit — A non-refundable amount of $2,500 required to place your factory order. The deposit is accepted by wire transfer or ACH and is applied directly toward the bottom line of your purchase, acting as part of your down payment. It is not an additional fee.

Price Protection — The commitment Pinckney CDJR makes to you on your agreed purchase price. Once your factory order is submitted and accepted, your sale price does not change throughout the model yeare, even if the manufacturer raises MSRP before your vehicle arrives. In some cases you may see the window sticker associated with your VIN increase in value during the build process, but your agreed price remains the same. Price protection applies to you specifically and is non-transferable.

Window Sticker — A virtual window sticker is generated during the build process showing your vehicle’s standard and selected features, estimated fuel efficiency, and MSRP.

PDI — Pre-Delivery Inspection. Once your vehicle is manufactured and transported to Pinckney CDJR, it goes through a preparation process before delivery. This includes cleaning, activating and calibrating features and functions, filling all necessary fluids, and a full inspection for safety, functionality, and any cosmetic damage that may have occurred in transit.

Affiliate — Certain employers or associations have affiliate relationships with Stellantis that may generate incentivized financing rates, cash incentives, or discounts. Your Sales Consultant can walk you through any affiliate programs that may apply to your situation.

Delivery — The point at which you take possession of your vehicle. This may mean driving it away from our lot or taking financial and legal possession while final logistics, such as shipping arrangements, are coordinated.

Shipping — The process of transporting your vehicle from Pinckney CDJR to your location. For buyers within 250 miles of Pinckney CDJR, we will drive your vehicle directly to your door at no charge. Beyond that radius, shipping is coordinated through a third-party carrier at the customer’s cost.

Transport — The process by which a finished vehicle travels from the final assembly plant to Pinckney CDJR.

Stellantis — The parent company that manufactures Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles, among others, internationally.
