You need a big truck to match if you have a big job, which usually means you’re driving a Ram 1500! The Ram 1500 comes with several powerful engine options and a towing and hauling capability that can’t be beat! Complementing all of this power is one of the most gorgeous cabins ever created, featuring the latest technology and luxury items. The latest version comes with the newest Uconnect system. If you love driving your Ram 1500, you’ll want to keep up with a regular maintenance schedule. That’s where we, here at Pinckney CDJR, come in! Below, you will find a maintenance schedule to follow for keeping up with your Ram’s repairs. Keep in mind that this is a guideline, and your actual maintenance schedule will depend on how often you drive your Ram and the type of terrain you encounter. Now let’s get to that maintenance schedule!

Check Your Oil

One of the best features of the Ram 1500 is that it comes equipped with an oil change indicator light. This intelligent sensor analyzes several factors, including oil quality, engine size, fuel ethanol level, and more, so you know when to schedule an oil change. This interval will depend on the model of Ram you have, the type and quality of oil, and your driving conditions. If you do light, everyday driving, then you’re going to want to get your oil changed every 7,500 to 10,000 miles, if you drive your Ram moderately, then you should get your oil changed every 5,000-8,000 miles, and if you do a lot of towing or off-roading then you should get your oil changed every 3,000-5,000 miles. You will know when you’re due for an oil change when you see an orange pop-up box that reads “Oil Change Required.” Therefore, you should get your oil changed as soon as possible. Never go longer than 10,000 miles without an oil change.

20,000 Miles

When you hit the 20,000-mile mark, you’re going to want to have a few essential items checked by our team here at Pinckney CDJR! First, we will inspect your Ram’s front suspension and inspect the brake linings, replacing them if necessary. At this mileage interval, you should also replace the cabin air filter as well.

30,000 Miles

At the 30,000-mile mark, you will need to have our experts inspect your front and rear axle surfaces. If you notice an oil leak, then have your fuel level checked. If you use your Ram 1500 for specific tasks, such as police work, taxi driving, fleet services, off-roading, or frequent towing, you should also have your axle fluid changed. Our experts here at Pinckney CDJR will also inspect your transfer case fluid, replace your engine air filter, and inspect the CV/Universal joints.

60,000 Miles

In addition to everything we covered at the 20,000- and 30,000-mile marks, our experts will also inspect a few other key areas. Included with this visit are things like inspecting your transfer case fluid. Changing your transfer case fluid is especially important if you use your Ram 1500 for police, taxi, fleet, or frequent towing purposes.

100,000 Miles and 150,000 Miles

The 100,000-mile mark is a significant milestone for your Ram. In addition to the maintenance tasks completed at the 20,000-mile mark, it’s recommended to replace your spark plugs and have your engine coolant flushed and replaced. The latter should be done every ten years or before you reach the 150,000-mile mark. You should also have our experts check your PCV valve and replace it if necessary. Next is the 150,000-mile mark, which will cover everything done at the 30,000-mile mark. We will also replace your engine coolant if you haven’t already done so. If you have an engine with stop/start technology, you will also need to use the OEM-grade Mopar accessory drive belt.
